Psalm 3 - Lay Down Our Lives

Psalm 3 - When enemies were pursuing David to kill him, what would have placed him in the most vulnerable state?  Sleeping!  When you’re asleep, you are defenseless.  But David proclaimed God to be a shield around him.  Then he lay down and fell asleep!  By sleeping, David demonstrated his total trust in God.

When we proclaim to trust God, we should follow up that proclamation with action.  In other words, we can’t say we trust God with our future, yet continue to worry.  We can’t say we trust God with a situation, yet not give Him control.  Like David, to fully demonstrate that we trust God, we need to lay down our lives so that God will have full reign.

My heart’s desire is to trust you fully, Lord.  But it’s difficult to be that vulnerable.  Will you continue to grow me towards a faith that trusts you more?  Amen.
